3-Pack Dryer Balls
Remove 10 pieces of plastic!
Save the planet (and your money) with eco-friendly dryer balls!
One way to make laundry day as eco-friendly as possible is to use dryer balls. With wool dryer balls, you can ditch single-use chemical dryer sheets, reduce drying time by 20%, and dry your clothes using less energy.
No chemicals, no fragrances, just pure organic cruelty-free, and Leaping Bunny certified New Zealand wool. For a fragrant twist, add your own essential oil blend. You can check out our favorite essential oil combos in our downloadable free guide!
Dryer Balls are built to last—each one can handle over 1,000 loads, and last for years. You'll know it's time to replace them when the felt starts to loosen, and the balls become softer, larger, or begin to unravel.
Handcrafted in Nepal by fair-trade artisans, the dryer balls and unbleached cotton drawstring bag are 100% home compostable. Even the user manual is printed on recycled paper.
Consider giving your old dryer balls a second life before composting. Add a few drops of essential oil and use them as natural drawer or closet fresheners. Or, hand them over to your pets—they make great toys!
The more, the merrier? Yep! In general, the more dryer balls you use, the better they work for any load size. For small loads, use three wool laundry dryer balls; six for medium to large loads; and up to a dozen for extra-large loads. Using more helps any size load dry faster. Over-drying your clothes can cause static buildup, so get to know your new dryer timing to minimize static.
Care: If your dryer balls need cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth. You can add a bit of soap or sanitizer if needed. For a deeper clean, hand wash them in lukewarm, soapy water.

Our Approach to Wool & Animal Welfare
At Free the Ocean, animal welfare is paramount. Some of our items, such as wool blankets or alpaca mittens, are made from natural fibers that come from domesticated animals like sheep and alpacas.
Animals like these have been bred for centuries to grow thick, abundant fleece. Because of this, they must be shorn regularly, particularly before warmer months. Shearing helps prevent heat stress and supports the animal’s overall health and comfort. If fleece is not removed, it can become heavy and matted, trapping dirt and moisture and potentially leading to skin infections, parasite infestations, reduced mobility, and even starvation.
To ensure responsible sourcing, we require that the artisans and producers we work with follow humane animal care practices. Our standards include:
• Animal care must strictly follow humane treatment, responsible ownership, and mulesing-free practices.
• Wool and other fibers must come from domesticated animals that benefit from regular shearing as part of their normal care.
• We do not sell products made from wild animals.
• We do not sell cosmetic or other products that have been tested on animals.
By working with partners who prioritize ethical treatment and responsible practices, we aim to offer products that align with our values while supporting artisans and natural materials.
